David Cameron, you deserve the dunce cap!

Everyone is entitled to their personal opinion in regard to Disabled Students Allowance but for me personally at university it has been one of the most helpful and positive things with dealing with my Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Anxiety! The extra funding has allowed to make my situation easier for me in ways I could never imagine! I would have never thought struggling in my first semester with no help or DSA would be such a strain in my academic and personal life. For some people it is allowing them to explore new opportunities as a DSA student some are able to go to university and have extra support and funding available. For some mature students it is allowing them to return to education and achieve new developments, achievements and degrees in future prospects. But for me, I am managing to raise my grades from D's to BS, I have grown with confidence with concerns with my anxiety. I was never self-confident with giving presentations to people throughout school and college, I used to stutter and miss out words when presenting but this semester I have managed to keep my anxiety and stuttering under control allowing me to achieve a B in my group presentation as teachers were aware of my disabilities and issues One of the positive things York St John have done is providing note takers so I am able to focus on taking in the information and listen to the lecturer without worrying about making notes at the same time. I sometimes struggled with my anxiety so I could not attend seminars or lectures, but the student support and DSA allowed the note takers to give me the notes which were benefit for the different assessments. DSA has given me necessary equipment to help my experience at university more beneficial to my personal tutor funded from who has helped me with my issues with my Dyslexia and Dyspraxia with the assessments, presentations and other academic problems I am having. I have enjoyed the experience my first semester and without the DSA I wouldn't be able to achieve the grades I have and achieve more personal confidence in myself, the support has been amazing.
